Lesbians Say I do
There has been a great deal of excitement this week in the US with a number of states saying “I do” to equal marriage. This naturally brings up analyses and debates regarding the disparities between lesbians and gay men.
It appears that lesbians marry more than gay men. Many papers have reported on it and many universities and organisations have been conducting surveys and studies into this phenomenon.
But why?
It could be for a wide number of the reasons. Here are my top 5:
1. As lesbians often want children more than gay men they see marriage as more sacred or even a great necessity in order to protect them.
2. You could use the age old argument that lesbians get into more long term committal relationships than gay men.
3. Women are less scared of marriage than men. For instance, how many women plan their wedding from the age of 5 as opposed to men?
4. As women are more dependent than men on each other financially there is often the need to have legal paperwork in place so that there is that commitment.
5. Men tend to be more satisfied and easy with what they’ve got, whilst women are normally the organisers and like think about the future.
For whatever reason this clearly shows that lesbians want to find their lobsters.
