If You’re Going To Protest, At Least Do It Properly…
American Christian group 'Family Foundation' announced their new approach to protesting equal marriage rights in America recently, and it's about as bonkers as the idea of opposing same-sex marriage in the first place. They are hosting a 40-day 'fast'…during which they are still allowed to eat.
Yes, you read that correctly. Quoted as saying: 'We are asking the entire Body of Christ to join us for this feast – giving up physical food isn’t necessary – but feeding on the spiritual food provided is vital’, I think they’re a little confused.
The fasting feast is entitled '40 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance for Marriage' and lasts from August 27th to October 5th 2014. It remains unclear to me, as it does to most of the world, how their day-to-day lives will change in any way during this protest (or after, for that matter, when gay marriage does eventually become legal).
They believe that their actions will place significant pressure on the Supreme Court into rejecting the legalisation of equal marriage. Let's make sure we increase the pressure too, but in the opposite way - be as vocal as possible about your feelings on equality for LGBT Americans, tweet it, shout it, and speak to those around you, and we’ll get there in the end.
